Fitness Friday: What Works for YOU
Hi! Happy Valentine’s week, everyone!! It’s Katie, proud aunt of soon to be FOUR perfect angels. It’s Fitness Friday and, admittedly, fitness has never been my forte. But I finally found something that works for me- and that made all the difference. That’s one thing I’ve learned about exercise- what works perfectly for someone else may be completely ineffective for you based on your personality. For example, my gym time is typically 5:00 am during the week. A lot of people think that’s nuts; however, I am a morning person (and incoherent after 10:30 pm) and I hate having places to go after work. So 5 a.m. is ideal for me. Another example: my sisters love @beachbody workouts. Those don’t work for me because I am not self-motivated enough to work out from home, plain and simple. Christina is a busy mom and sometimes working out from home is the best option, so it works great for her. I’ve started going to @orangetheory (s/o to @otfbountiful ). It works well for my personality because I can easily track my progress on a screen during the workout and I have a record of past workouts to compare. This works for my personality- I like seeing results in the form of numbers. I also love how the coaches who run the workouts know my name and are there to help and encourage me. Also, I love/hate how they charge me $12 every time I cancel a workout less than 8 hours in advance. That has gotten me out of bed more than once! Exercise is personal and it’s important to find what is most effective for YOU so you can sustain it and ENJOY it!
