Thankful Thursday: Lemons to Lemonade

My friends and I were so excited to go to Ghirardelli Square In our last few hours in San Francisco. When the day began, I told everyone, “the only thing I care about today is getting an ice cream sundae at Ghirardelli.” I made sure to bring it up at least three more times. When we arrived, our first stop was to the bathroom. We noticed it was eerily dark. The power had gone out. We didn’t think much of it, but when we got to the ice cream shop, they said their systems were down and they weren’t selling anything. The power had gone out about 10 minutes before we arrived. We decided to go take some pictures and wait for their system to come back up. Then we got in line at the ice cream shop and waited. And waited. And waited. We got chocolate samples twice and they even started giving out ice cream samples. But they wouldn’t sell anything. We had to leave for the airport soon and they couldn’t give an estimate on when the server would be back up. So we had to leave without the ice-cream. I was very sad. But when I look back at these pictures, I remember how funny it was when Brittany bent down behind the bushes to hold Katie’s shirt so it wouldn’t blow in the wind and make her look pregnant. I remember how we laughed at me looking like an awkward bird in one of the shots. And then there was the rando guy that just came and sat in one of our pictures to be funny. We didn’t get what we came for, but we had lots of laughter and joy in the journey. Sometimes the things we dream about are just outside our reach and it’s beyond our control. But we get to choose our attitude and make lemonade out of lemons. And friends are really good at helping us do that!
