Thankful Thursday: Sharing Our Experiences

I know that there have been a lot of people who have had questions about my battle with Guillain-Barre Syndrome from fall of 2015-spring of 2016. Sometimes it’s difficult for me to talk about the experience because i don’t want to seem like I’m trying to get attention, or make people feel bad for me. Slowly, but surely, I have learned that my experience can HELP other people, in many different ways. I started to push myself to share about it even when it was hard. Now, in 2019, when I talk about it I feel empowered rather than totally vulnerable. But, I’ve also learned that being vulnerable is what connects us to others on a deep, human level, and I am willing to open up my heart if it will resonate with someone else’s.
Since May is #guillainbarresyndrome awareness month, I’m answering any questions you may have about this bizarre-o disease and my experience before, during, and after the healing process. I am where i am today because of what happened in 2015, and I am forever grateful for my path.
