Must-Have Items from a Mom of (almost) 3
After having a couple kids, I have decided QUALITY is so important and investing in things that will last. Especially if you plan to have more than one child. Here are the items of most importance to me that I have found stand the test of time.
Ohhhhh my goodness! What can I say about this pillow except it was WORTH EVERY PENNY! It has been a game changer for me this pregnancy and I have slept like a baby ever since I got it. It surrounds you so it supports your belly, neck, and back, and you can have cushion between your knees as well for added comfort. If you get yourself one thing for pregnancy, let it be this.
2. Boppy Nursing Pillow
I have had the same Boppy for all my babies and it has been so, so nice, especially in the first few months with a newborn. You can order cute covers to go over them and they are easily removed and washed. The pillow helps support the baby while you nurse so your arm doesn't fall off from holding your baby up.
3. Ergo Baby Carrier
I tried many baby carriers, from wraps to slings to other brands, and Ergo is by far my favorite for back support and baby comfort. I have had the original Ergo for my first two babies, but will be getting the Omni 360 (linked) for this baby because you don't need a newborn insert, and the baby can sit facing outward which is a game changer. It will lengthen the life of me being able to wear my baby as he grows. It is on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it.
4. Hatch Baby Rest
I did a ton of research before buying this product. I have actually been using it for my older boys and it has been working WONDERS! It is a sound machine, nightlight, and an OK to wake timer! You can control it from an app on your phone which is the best. The boys had been getting up at all hours of the night coming into our room and then waking up at 5 for the day. After getting this, they wait until the light turns green and get up at 7 every day! It's amazing.
5. Aiden and Anais Swaddle Blankets
I got a 4 pack of these when I was pregnant with Scott and we've used them for both of the big boys. They are lightweight and amazing quality. We won't use any other brand of swaddles. They are simply the best. We used our white one for newborn photos. My mom bought me another set of them for this new baby and I especially think they will be nice for the summer heat.
6. Belly Bandit
Another thing I've used after each birth. It helps provide support and bring everything back together after having a baby. It essentially helps to train your tummy/uterus back to where it needs to be. It also helped me feel like my organs were in the right place after having a c section.
7. Aden and Anais Burpy Bibs
With a new baby, you are going to need a looooot of burp cloths. These are awesome because they also convert to a bib and they are so soft and cute! Amazing quality that will LAST!
8. Bravado Nursing Bras
I tried a lot of different nursing bras as well. Bravado is by far the best, most comfortable brand. It isn't recommended to have underwire, etc while nursing and these are seamless and soft. Great quality and have lasted through both of my first babies and will use again with the third.
9. C Panty
This is another postpartum support item, more specific to c-section mamas. It has a silicone strip where the incision lays which helps reduce scar tissue and promote healing. It also helps to bring everything back in and provides support. I absolutely loved this product after my second c-sec and will be using it again after this third one.
10. Haakaa Breast Pump
I'm super excited to try this product! I haven't actually used one yet, but having nursed two babies, I know the struggle is real and I've heard only GREAT things about it. (And it's only like 12 bucks?!) Basically while nursing on one side, the Haakaa will catch any milk that is released from the other side during a letdown. That milk is LIQUID GOLD and no one wants to lose a drop of it! I have flashbacks of nursing on one side and having my other boob spraying milk all over the place. (hahaha TMI but it's real life.)
