Thankful Thursday: Laughter
I am super uptight. There. I said it. I have knots in my shoulders and neck from all the tension I carry around because I worry about EVERYTHING (#ocdproblems ). Today, I am grateful for HUMOR! Laughter is critical to a joyous, healthy life. While this fact is fairly obvious, I did a screenshot of good ole Wikipedia (see second picture) that describes actual studies that prove this is true! And I’m sure those stats are at least mostly accurate. I’m on choir/band/orchestra tour right now with 165 people, including over 150 teenagers. My colleague and I are in charge of the whole shabang. Last night, something little happened at dinner that made me stress out way more than the situation called for. I had to take a few minutes to breathe in a place where I could be alone (a bathroom stall), and remind myself this is supposed to be FUN and to not sweat the small stuff. So, on performing arts tour day 2, I decided to wear my favorite shirt a co-worker gave me for situations such as these. But all I really need to do is look at the pictures my students are taking with Travis, the traveling Barbie boyfriend they gave me for Christmas, to remember to laugh- or at least smile- when I feel like I might jump out of my skin.
