“Self-care is not an indulgence. Self-care is a discipline. It requires tough-mindedness, a deep and personal understanding of your priorities, and a respect for both yourself and the people you choose to spend your life with.”
I LOVE this quote from an article in Forbes. Why do we feel like self care means paying $100 for a massage? Or going on an expensive vacation? While those things can be classified as ways to care for your overall health, self-care is exactly how it sounds. Taking care of your own body and taking charge of your health. It’s prioritizing your life in such a way so you can be your best self inside and out. That may mean showering everyday, it may mean getting to bed earlier, it may mean going to the gym each day. I am a HUGE proponent for self-care, especially as a busy working mama with a hubby that travels a lot for work. I absolutely have to prioritize my own health in order to be the best mom, wife, teacher that I can. Personally, I make it a priority to work out 5-6 times a week no matter what! I also take time to wind down after the kids go to bed by taking a bath and reading a book.
