It’s me, Katie. Today on #thankfulthursday (and, incidentally, Pi day), I’m grateful for differences. So often, we compare ourselves to others without realizing that our differences make us unique and special. Growing up with two beautiful and accomplished sisters, I used to compare myself to them. I even catch myself doing it now! Christina is an excellent cook and dancer. I am as flexible as a plank of wood and get 0% excited about recipes and cooking tips. Anna relates to animals on a spiritual level and thinks Zumba and high fitness classes are a blast. I tolerate animals at best and want to die halfway through dance aerobic classes. I love public speaking and treat my entire life as an open book, which my sisters are less inclined to do. But because we aren’t the same, we can offer one another cool perspectives and ideas. We could never create a joint Instagram account discussing all aspects of a healthy mind and body without each other. I certainly would be lost talking about healthy eating and parenting like Christina can. My sisters rely a lot on me to shed light on mental illness from my personal experiences. Anna’s occupational therapy studies provide insight neither Tina or I have. But we have common goals and a deep love for one another. That’s enough.
